Call numbers can be found on the spine of library books. They tell you the location of a book and some key information about the book itself.

For example 'Jane Austen: Selected letters, 1796-1817' Has the call number: 826.7 Au74 1985

  • 826.7 Refers to the subject area in the library
  • Au74 is code for the author
  • 1985 refers to the year the book was published

In the library move to the shelves listed as 800's move from left to right along the shelves until you find the correct call number.
